The San Francisco biopharmaceutical company (NASDAQ: MDVN) also said it will pay the executives a total of nearly $1.4 million in 2009 bonuses.

This year was a banner year for Medivation. It launched a Phase III trial in July for its Huntington’s disease treatment Dimebon, struck a potential $765 million deal in October with Astellas Pharma to develop a prostate cancer drug and netted about $54 million from a mid-year stock sale.

Chief Financial Officer Patrick Machado also will make $413,000, a 13.2 percent raise, and Chief Commercial Officer Rohan Palekar will make $402,500, a 15 percent boost.

Bonuses were $595,800 for Hung, $300,000 for Seely, $240,000 for Machado and $262,500 to Palekar.

Some of the tests that doctors give when looking for causes of memory problems might well some odd if not a bit demanding , over demanding and even odd and strange. Some might be downright insulting – as in the case of an apparent test for Syphilis or H.I.V (AIDS). In the end it all for a good and competent diagnosis. If something was missed foolishly – and could of been treated – or at least comforted and relieved your family members that all had been done and looked into for your care – would you not wish that was so .

It depends on your doctor , your history , your workup and his or her preferences but AIDS and Syphilis are not out of the question and extraordinary in the diagnosis and determination of the cause and causes of memory loss. These ailment , diseases and disorders can well cause memory impairments and loss and should well be “ruled out” , in the differential diagnosis – by any thorough and valid investigator and diagnostician.

It can be said to try and look at Alzheimer’s disease as a “challenge” that you and your family members can try to work through as well as work together for a common purpose and set of goals. There is safety in “the herd”, as opposed to trying to carry the burden either yourself , or with only a small or smaller grouping.

There can be said to be “safety” as well as ease in numbers , especially if you are all on the same side – and rowing the boat in unison.

It can be well said , stated and even emphasized that as the disease progresses – especially towards the later stages of Alzheimer’s disease , that care and care procedures and follow through will become ever more demanding and require more and greater levels of care. It is easier to work with a group , to go with the flow, rather than to fight against and up the current pushing forward , onward or even try to stay in the same place and grouping so to speak.

Again with the issue and issues of the concept and concepts of ” getting angy at the disease afflicting the Alzheimer’s patient and not the poor patient themselves” , often the whole conflicts and frustrations that arise within family groups and groupings can either make times and events much more heated – indeed causing deep rifts and conflicts within these families. In other cases the whole series of events may bring the families together in a more close and binding relationship or series of relationships.

A situation may even arise where certain family members may assume because of their skills , caring or even professional skills and credentials that they “should be the one in charge”, making the decisions and carrying through. In other cases these same individuals who have become the decision makers and care implementations , actually have the responsibility and inherent responsibilities thrust onto them – with little consultation. This may cause splits and decisions. Alternatively it may be viewed by outsiders and agencies – that due to predilection or actual training and credential that certain individuals are the most qualified and “should be in charge”. However what has happened in more than one situation – that for whatever reason – jealousy , laziness , financial concerns or spousal pressure – these appointed individuals may charge out and carry a path which has if anything is diametrically opposed to the best interests of the Alzheimer’s patient , their family and friends. So be it. Tread gently and lightly in such situations if and when they do arise .

Living alone when you have what might be called , referred to , or diagnosed as “early stage” Alzheimer’s disease is surely possible . That is if you live nearby or near to caring people – be they family or friends who can be trusted to look out for you. This does not only mean to look out for you – but also notice when you are not “around” or “been around’ for a given short term time period or periods.

It is not as if these guardian angels need to “spy” on you . Now it seems is the best time to ask neighbors , friends or family for help and their specific help.

In addition it is not out of the question that you may have to actually hire people to assist you with odd jobs.

It may well be that is either , or will seem to be , the very first time in your adult life and lifetimes that you have to turn to others – indeed to be dependent on others for what you may have considered to be standard run of the mill living experience and daily care and attentions. It may well take some time getting used to – not only physically , emotionally and also for your ego.

If you are uncomfortable with the idea of this or even asking for help – you can always ease the ways by using and utilizing “third parties” – be they your doctor , your attorney , barrister or lawyer , a trusted member of your family or a good friend to act on your behalf as your intermediary.

The medication? Razadyne was originally made from daffodil flowers using the very same extract that soldiers in ancient Greece used to stay alert on the battlefields.?? The drugs commercially available of Razadyne currently use a synthetic version or variant of this initial compound.

Radazyne not only blocks cholinesterase in the same way that the Alzheimer’s drug Aricept does but also and in addition stimulates the brain’s? nicotine and nicotinic receptors.? The nicotinic receptors in the brain serves the brain functioning and are involved in attention and learning facilities and functions and functioning.

Originally researchers had hoped that this double pharmacological actions would serve to double the drug’s benefits in treatment as well.

However clinical trials of Rasadyne ( chemically or generically galantamine) have not borne this out as well.

As a general guideline and measure Razadyne is generally held to be as effective in the ranges as that of Aricept.

Several studies ( some lasting as long as five (5) years)?? have ascertained and concluded that these patients declined and had their Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive symptoms declined at a slower rate than would of been expected? otherwise without therapy??? However these studies could be criticized as not being that well standardized or with a small patient count and being of short duration.
